Nina Garbiras, founder and principal of FIG, a New York-based design studio established in 2006, is a Manhattan designer creating refined and thoughtful residential and retail environments. At the heart of her approach is a subtle layering of textures and shapes with an intuitive ability to connect modern and contemporary with vintage, curating a refined and stylish space tailored to each client and architectural vernacular. From an 1860’s farmhouse upstate, NY to a modern Art Deco duplex in downtown Brooklyn, to a Paris pied-a-terre, to a mid-century ranch in Silicon Valley, Garbiras creates a warm and casual elegance in every interior. Drawing on her knowledge and relationships with contemporary furniture studios and the auction houses and flea markets from Paris to New York to Los Angeles, Garbiras respects the location, the history, and architecture crucial to challenging whatever space she inhabits. Garbiras, who speaks French and Italian, continues to study art and design in Paris, London, and Milan.
